Internazionale set to pull the plug off Ashley Young's deal

Manchester United captain Ashley Young has not got a lot of chances this season. The 34-year-old has fallen behind Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams in the pecking order as he is in the last year of his contract at Manchester United. The versatile full-back, who has served the club for eight and a half years, caught the attention of Antonio Conte at Internazionale.

The former Chelsea manager displayed his interested in signing the experienced full-back. Young's experience can be a huge help for Inter as they are in a tight title race with Juventus and Lazio. There were reports that Inter was going to conclude a deal in this window itself by paying a fee to the Red Devils.

The deal has hit a roadblock due to the imminent swap deal between Leonardo Spinazzola and Matteo Politano. Spinazzola can address the problems on the left-side for Conte's side. If Spinazolla completes his move, it will put Young in a tricky position as he displayed his intent to leave the Red Devils.

According to reports, United had offered him a new contract, but the full-back was intent on making a move to Italy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had said that he won't allow any transfers which make his squad thinner. The reluctance of United to sell the player might have forced Inter to look for other options in the market.

If the swap deal does go through, Inter won't need his services unless they decide to send Federico DiMarco on loan. According to reports, Verona has displayed an interest in signing the Italian youngster. The loan deal will mean that Inter will have to look for a backup and Young can be the answer to the problem.

Young's versatility is a great advantage as he can provide a cover for several positions. In 261 appearances for Manchester United, Young has played in a variety of roles including the role of a striker and a centre-back.
