Manchester United want out of favour Tottenham duo

If reports in England are to be believed, Premier League giants Manchester United are plotting a sensational double raid on rivals Tottenham Hotspur as they look to sign the duo of Eric Dier and Lucas Moura. The duo have been long-term targets of the Red Devils and they are set to make another attempt to sign them in January.

Moura is a player who has been linked with Manchester United even before his first move to Europe. As a youngster at São Paulo, he was wanted by a host of clubs in Europe and was incredibly close to joining the Red Devils. But, Paris Saint-Germain made a late hijack for the gifted Brazilian.

Things never really worked for Moura at PSG and he eventually made his move to Spurs and this time again, he snubbed a move a to Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho, who was then in charge of the Red Devils, was keen to sign the pacey wide forward but he opted to join Spurs.

Eric Dier's story is also quite similar. The versatile England international was monitored on a regular basis by Manchester United when he was at Sporting but Spurs managed to sign the Englishman in 2014.

However, the defensive midfielder has always been a name that has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford and reports claim that he still remains a strong target for the 20-time champions of England.

Both Moura and Dier have struggled to cement their places in Tottenham's starting eleven that has a lot of quality. Manchester United, who are in search of quality in a number of positions, have identified the duo as their targets for the upcoming window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly a huge admirer of the versatility Moura comes with. Even though, he has not been a regular in Spurs starting XI since he made his move to the north London club, he has made an impact every time he has been on the pitch. The 27-year-old is a proven goalscorer and a big-game player. He has what it takes to end the Red Devils' long search for a quality right winger.

Moura is capable of playing either centrally or on the flanks and Solskjaer believes that he can complement Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the attack with his pace and directness.

Meanwhile, reports claim United are also looking to sign out-of-favour Dier as they remain in the market for a holding midfielder. Solskjaer was priced out of moves for West Ham's Declan Rice and Newcastle's Sean Longstaff this summer and could make a cut-price swoop for the Spurs man instead who is much more experenced in comparison to the young English duo.
