Manchester City and Manchester United want AC Milan defender

Manchester United and their bitter local rivals Manchester City are set to battle each other for the services of AC Milan full-back Theo Hernandez. If reports in England are to be believed, the former Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid left-back could be on his way to the Premier League after his sensational debut season in the Serie A.

The 22-year-old started his career at Atletico Madrid but made a controversial move across the city to Real in 2017. The Frenchman was offloaded to Milan for £18 million last summer after spending the 18/19 season on loan at Real Sociedad.

Hernandez, younger brother of Bayern Munich defender and French World Cup winner Lucas, could be on the move yet again after taking Serie A by storm. It is claimed that both the Manchester clubs are in the hunt for a new left-back next season and have identified the Frenchman as a potential candidate.

Real Madrid are also said to be interested in bringing Hernandez back to the Santiago Bernabeu as they prepare to bid farewell to Marcelo. FC Barcelona are also said to be keen, while Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are known to be admirers of the young bombarding full-back.

Selling Hernandez could allow AC Milan to fund moves for a number of top targets after enduring yet another difficult campaign. It’s reckoned they are still keeping tabs on Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, who pushed for a San Siro switch last summer.

Milan would also like to raid rivals Inter for out-of-favour striker Mauro Icardi, who is set to return to Antonio Conte’s side after PSG opted against making his loan stay permanent.
