Manchester United to make a move for Dutch midfield ace in January

Premier League giants Manchester United have set their sights on Donny van de Beek in their hunt for a new star midfielder this month if reports in England are to be believed.

James Maddison has been touted as a major target for the Red Devils but a deal for the Leicester ace in Janaury does not look likely as the Foxes will be looking to continue their strong season.

It is claimed that the Red Devils are looking at alternatives to Maddison who could be available in January and believe that Ajax midfield ace Donny van de Beek is one such player.

Leicester City are in a strong position to turn down offers for their star attacking midfielder James Maddision but the same cannot be said about Ajax.

The Dutch giants lost most of their star players at the end of their sensational last season that saw them reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League but have been knocked out from the group stage this campaign.

It is reported that the Manchester United scouts have put together a strong report on van de Beek and consider the 22-year-old as an ideal fit for their system.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also reportedly a huge fan of the Dutchman and is pushing executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward towards a January deal for the dynamic midfielder.

Hakim Ziyech, another star of the Ajax side, is also being reportedly watched by the Red Devils but is not a priority in January. The Morocco international is capable of playing on either flank as well as in the number ten role.

Real Madrid and Tottenham registered their interest in the attacking midfielder having been dumped out of the tournament by Ajax but could not lure the Dutchman away from the Amsterdam Arena.

A bid of £50million is said to be enough to draw the Dutch side to the negotiating table and that is a pretty reasonable fee for a 22-year-old midfielder who is proven at the top level.

Manchester United do not have any problem with the funds but they have struggled to find the right players to invest on and it seems like van de Beek would be a brilliant acquisition by the Red Devils.
