Neymar needs to change his attitude to reach the level of Ronaldo and Messi - Zico
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi “live for football” but according to Zico, Neymar does not possess the same attitude.
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has scored 69 goals in 80 games appearances in all competitions since arriving at the Parc des Princes from Barcelona for a world-record fee of €222m in August 2017.
The 28-year-old has won every available domestic title in France but injuries, suspensions, the ongoing pandemic have caused problems to lead PSG to success in the Champions League.
Neymar has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona and a reunion with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, forming one of the most lethal attacking unites in modern football.
Zico has no second thoughts on the talent Neymar possesses but he feels that the Brazilian will not be able to reach the level of Messi and Ronaldo until there is a change in his attitude.
Zico talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport said, “I really like Ney, his way of playing is incredible but he has to more professional like Ronaldo and Messi, who have 11 Ballon d’Ors between them. Ney has too many thoughts that distract him. I spoke to him recently and asked him to be more professional."
“He is 28 years old and there is a good team at PSG. They can win the Champions League.” Neymar has returned to Brazil during the coronavirus pandemic to be closer to his family.
Neymar was in the headlines again in February, when he hosted a party just two days before PSG faced Nantes. However, Neymar was not a part of the game because of a rib injury.
Following his return to action, he scored in both legs of PSG’s Champions League last-16 triumph over Borussia Dortmund to book their place in the quarter-finals.
Neymar was seen emotional after the team got through and was seen celebrating with the fans after the game. It was a huge relief to the fans as they saw their star player happy and dedicated to the squad.
