Neymar receives a two-game ban after his actions against Marseille

Last Sunday’s Le Classique was merely a classic in the dying minutes of the game with five players being sent off in the injury time. Out of the five, Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar, like always has again made the headlines as he is now banned for the next two games.

Neymar’s red card was due to his brawl with Marseille’s Alvaro in defense of which Neymar stated that he raised his hand on the player only because he racially abused. However, no conclusive evidence was found and that led to the decision of handing Neymar a two-game ban.

The results of a disciplinary tribunal were revealed on Wednesday and as a result, a third match was added to his ban as a suspended sentence. Layvin Kurzawa was also handed a six-game ban, with Leandro Paredes also out for two fixtures. The trio was present but not on the pitch when PSG claimed their first win of the season against Metz.

Angel Di Maria was the champions’ star player. However, he is the latest player to be called up to face the disciplinary commission next Wednesday in relation to the Marseille game. For Marseille, Jordan Amavi was handed a three-match suspension, while Dario Benedetto faced just a game’s suspension. Abdou Diallo was the most recent player to be sent off. However, he received a red in the game against Metz.

PSG’s next game is against Nice away on September 20 and yet again Thomas Tuchel will have a difficult time choosing the starting XI. Tuchel recently told in a press conference that he expects Kylian Mbappe to be a part of their upcoming game and that will be a huge positive for the UCL finalists.

PSG suffered another blow as Juan Bernat sustained a knee sprain against Metz. He will also be a doubt for the game against Nice.
