Zidane continues his perfect run in the finals with Supercopa win against Atletico

After a scoreless 90 minutes and extra time, the Supercopa de Espana final saw a one-sided penalty shootout going in the favour of Los Blancos. Madrid captain Sergio Ramos tucked home the winning penalty and not to forget the contribution of the Rojiblancos, who missed the opening two shots, causing problems for themselves.

With this, Zinedine Zidane preserved his perfect record in the finals as the head coach of La Liga giants Real Madrid. Zidane said winning nine trophies in nine finals is what Real Madrid are all about. He then said, "We're all together and we prepared the matches well."

Zidane has now won the La Liga, three Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and as many FIFA Club World Cup and Supercopa titles across two stints in Madrid.

However, the final went to penalties after Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde was shown a red card for hacking down Alvaro Morata and denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. The match-saving tactical foul thwarted Atletico and ensured Real Madrid triumphed as Valverde was named man of the match.

Zidane praised the youngster and said,"He was given man of the match and I'm happy for him because he did a great job. I'm sure that he wants to share it with his teammates."

"He did what he had to do, he made a crude foul but he did it well. And in the end, the important thing is that he's apologised to Alvaro."

Zidane was delighted with the way his team performed and said that winning a trophy is never easy and even less so against Atletico. He also stated the possibilities of winning other completions they are a part of.

La Liga race is very alluring at the moment with Barcelona and Real Madrid both with 40 points. UCL fixtures are about to begin and Real Madrid have a tough competition lined up with Pep's Manchester City, who are looking for UCL glory from a long time.

However, Atletico Madrid are about to have tougher problems as they face the current Premier League leaders, Liverpool. With the kind of form Liverpool are in, it will be very difficult to stop the defending UCL Champions.
