India will kickstart a full-fledged tour of New Zealand by the last week of January. India will play five T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests. It will be a tough test for the rampaging Team India in all formats.

India beat New Zealand by 5 wickets in Dunedin Test (1968)

MAK Pataudi led India to a thrilling 5 wicket win at Dunedin in 1968. After bowling out New Zealand for 350, India posted 359 to take a slim 9-run lead.

Ajit Wadekar top-scored with 80. EAS Prasanna took 6 wickets to bowl out New Zealand for 208 in the second innings. Wadekar then again led from the front, scoring 71 to take India past the 200-run target.

India beat New Zealand by 1 wicket in Wellington ODI  (1990)

India posted 221 all out thanks to Kapil Dev top-scoring with 46. India were never in the hunt while defending the low total.

New Zealand were cruising at 174/4 with Ken Rutherford and Sir Richard Hadlee leading the chase. But Manoj Prabhakar brought India back into the game, dismissing Rutherford for 44.

With two runs needed with two wickets in hand, Martin Snedden ran himself out, but Hadlee was still there at the crease. Kapil then bowled Hadlee to help India to post a memorable one-wicket win.

India beat New Zealand by 2 wickets in Napier ODI (1999)

India were trailing 1-0 going into the 2nd ODI at Napier. India asked New Zealand to bat first and bowled them out for 213 with Sachin Tendulkar taking 3/34.

India made a good start to the chase with India posting 50 runs in just eight overs. After that, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At 152/5, India needed 62 runs off 69 balls. Nayan Mongia kept his cool and saw India home with two wickets to spare. Mongia made 30 not out.

India beat New Zealand by one wicket in Auckland ODI (2003)

India played on a drop-in pitch throughout the tournament and they were beaten comprehensively 2-0 in Tests. The ODI series was no different. But Virender Sehwag made sure India have something positive to take back home.

His 112 at Auckland was the most entertaining inning of the tour for India and they almost snatched defeat from jaws of victory.

After Sehwag fell for 112 at 182/4, India needed another 18 runs off 8 overs. But India messed it up, managing to just cross the finish line by a wicket. Last batsman Ashish Nehra manage to crack a four to steer the team to victory.

New Zealand beat India by 4 runs in Hamilton T20I (2019)

India were set a target of 219 and they looked down and out at 145/6. With India needing 68 runs off 28 balls, Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya joined forces to fight for India.

They counter-attacked to give India hope. Both cracked cameos of 33* and 26* but just fell short by four runs as India lost the series 2-1. But it was easily the best match of the tour.
