Is Zidane's confidence worth it or not?

Real Madrid displayed a very satisfying performance to go through to the last 16 of the Champions League as they finished second, five points behind the group leaders Paris-Saint Germain. Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane fired shots as casual as it sounds towards Liverpool and also accepted the fact that the newly signed striker, Luka Jovic needs more playing time.

The 13-time European champions defeated Club Brugge 3-1 away from home. The round of 16 draws take place on Monday which will confirm Real’s opponents in the KO stages. Vinicius Junior scored his maiden Champions League goal in the process.

Finishing second in the group, Real Madrid will be facing the winners of another group, except PSG and any other Spanish team. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could be a potential draw that could happen. When asked in the interview, if the Reds were a team they would look to avoid, Zidane smirked and said,” If we play Liverpool, we will eliminate them.”

“We can’t do anything about the draw.” He further added. Zidane was seen exulted with the performance of his team and was expecting a tougher competition as their opponents usually played with a back five.

The Eintracht Frankfurt signing, Jovic hasn’t had a good run of games, scoring just one goal in Real Madrid colors. The Serbian, however, was backed by his manager and according to Zidane, some continuous games with healthy playing time would get the striker back in form.

The joke about Liverpool was made as Zidane’s Madrid won their last UCL trophy, defeating the Reds in a dramatic final, which saw Mohamed Salah getting subbed in the opening minutes of the game.

The final was also the last time when Real Madrid’s all-time top-scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo played in the Madrid shirt. Let us wait to see how Klopp reacts to the joke as the defending European Champions seem in their best form and shape.
