BTS Sevilla, Chaos stranger than reality TV

For a club that had secured the Europa League title last season and finished 4th in La Liga not too long ago, 12th and 14th are disappointing finishes to say the least. But what has been going behind the scenes would make this seem like a task even more herculean than securing an invincible treble, that was purely hyperbolic. The point is that things are much worse behind the scenes than what their recent success might suggest.

Things are pretty bleak to start off with when you have to list your entire squad up for sale to write of debt. While some would attribute this to the polarizing transfer misses of transfer guru Monchi, others  pin the blame on the boardroom battle that has been going behind the scenes for the longest of times. A saga that would even put Big Boss to shame and could have the potential to be the next Amazon all or nothing showpiece if they are bold enough. The more in your face reason could be watered down to an older ageing squad with a bloated wage bill and little resale value being a burden immediately after post pandemic era. Two bottom half finishes partly curtsey of said recruitments have thrown otherwise prudent Sevilla off balance which has impacted their finances massively.

Shareholders being kicked out mid meeting, a son claiming to his father that he got off with his mother in an official board meeting, the same father calling his son out expletives. The ex-president and their largest shareholder trying to undermine the current board at every turn possible. The Del Nido family would give De Niro a run for his money, but considering they have been losing money despite being Europa League royalty off late, they very much need it. In the background we could hear del Nido screaming for the 100th time that Sevilla FC could go bankrupt which has been dismissed as a ploy to gain powers by some allegedly.

The juicer and more speculative assumption is that there is almost a Juilus Ceaser like situation brewing behind the boardrooms. Even the most obnoxious reality tv writers could not come up with what the drama off the pitch has reportedly allegedly thrown up. An ex- club president branding his son ( who is the current club vice-president) is a disgrace.

The son joining hands with his rivals and being accused of backstabbing his own father, private shareholders that were introduced by the current president changing sides due to off the field differences on how the club should be run. A legal battle for the ownership of the club is clearly not the best atmosphere for any parties involved to prosper but it makes for good reality TV though. As a neutral although, would hope that the murky skies surrounding the club clear out soon so the fans who enjoy their on the field exploits could see them entertain us in the Europa League once again or better, the Champions League.
