Five batsmen to watch out for in the 2022 T20 World cup

The T20 World cup is just a week away and cricket fans cannot wait for it to begin. We have seen batsmen score tons of runs in the World cup in the shortest format. 

Players like Chris Gayle, Mahela Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum, and Virat Kohli have shown their talent, and skill and entertained millions of fans worldwide with their brutal hitting with more editions to come, we wonder how many more batsmen can find success in the shortest format of the game.

Let us have a look at the five batsmen to watch out for this T20 World cup

5) Kyle Mayers (West Indies)

The all-rounder from Barbados announced himself to the cricketing world in style when he scored a brilliant double-century against Bangladesh on his international debut. Since then he has played 16 T20Is striking at 134.29. 

He is also the second-highest scorer in the 2022 edition of the CPL, scoring 366 runs in 12 innings. Being given the responsibility of the captain for the first time in his career, he carried Barbados Royals to the finals and his team ended up being the runner. 

He is also a handy all-rounder and can chip in with a few overs with the ball. So, Kyle Mayers is a batter to watch out for this T20 World cup.

4) David Miller (South Africa)

Post-2015, David Miller hasn't lived up to his reputation. Fans saw a dip in form when he played for South Africa and many T20 franchises all around the world. But during the 2022 IPL, fans saw the old killer-miller back when he scored 481 runs in 16 innings while averaging 68.71 and striking at 142.73

The 33-year-old Miller also showed his class in South African colors, when he helped South Africa draw the series T20I 2-2 against India and a brilliant century of just 46 balls against India in the recently concluded bilateral series against the same opposition means that he has found some form before this T20 World cup, he is a batsman to watch out for.

3) Virat Kohli (India)

Winning the man of the tournament award twice in the 2014 and 2016 editions of the T20 World cup, it is no surprise to see Virat Kohli on this list. Kohli has had amazing numbers in the T20 World cup, scoring 845 runs in 19 innings with a whopping average of 76.80

The former Indian skipper ended his 2-year century drought when he scored a century against Afghanistan in the Asia cup. With fans seeing the Kohli of old in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, Virat Kohli will be looking forward to carrying this momentum in the 8th edition of the T20 World cup.

2) Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan)

The number 1 ranked T20I batter has been on a roll recently. The 30-year-old is one of the few batsmen who can play according to the situation. He can play the anchor role and also play the pinch hitter role when the situation arises. 

At the 2021 World cup, he scored 281 runs at an average of 70, hitting three fifties in the process. Rizwan will be looking to repeat the same heroics at the 2022 World cup as he's Pakistan's Mr dependable in the shortest format of the game.

1) Suryakumar Yadav (India)

The year 2022 has been the year for Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai batsman became the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in T20Is in terms of balls faced (573). The in-form right-hander now is the most important player for team India. With a century against England in England, scoring tons of runs against West Indies, England, Australia, and South Africa, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to make a fest of the mega event. scored
