Competing to retain his French Open crown is defending champion World No.1 Novak Djokovic, who has had a turbulent start to his ATP season. 

Preparing for his 21st Grand Slam, Djokovic pushed through a difficult phase went on to win his first title of the season at the Italian Open.

2) Daniil Medvedev

World No.2 Daniil Medvedev, had a terrific start to his ATP season by reaching the finals of the Australian Open. 

But in March after his exit from the Miami Open in the quarter-finals, he underwent a hernia surgery, which didn’t allow him to play for the rest of the season. The French Open organizers have allowed Russian and Belarusian players to play but without their flags.

Alexander Zverev's preparations for the French Open since the beginning of the clay-court season has seen him play back to back semi-finals or finals. 

The German’s big serve and forehand are his two big weapons. The World No.3 has come across Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in two semi-finals where either of them has won the match.
