Laver Cup 2022: Roger Federer and 'Big Four' reunited as tennis fraternity bids farewell to 'Fed Ex'

Roger Federer will finally drop the curtains on an illustrious career after 24 long years as he says goodbye to the beautiful game of tennis. 

The Laver Cup 2022 in London will mark an end of an era after the Swiss Maestro graced the game for more than two decades. The tennis fans will have one final opportunity to watch the great of the game compete at the top level while some of the big names in the world of tennis join him.

Big Four United

This will be the first time that the ‘Big Four’ of Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic unite as they are part of Team Europe in the competition that kick-started in 2017. While Federer shares a hard-fought rivalry with Nadal and Djokovic, he also shares close affairs with former Wimbledon Champion Murray.

Federer faced Djokovic on 50 occasions with the Serb leading 27-23 while no less than 24 times did Nadal and Federer go head-to-head. The rivalry between Nadal and Federer saw them cross paths on 40 occasions as the Spaniard led 24-16. The occasion will be one to cherish as top draw players along with Federer, Murray, Djokovic, and Nadal will compete in the Laver Cup 2022.

What is Laver Cup?

The tournament pits six of the top players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the world. Starting in 2017, the tournament continued every year with the exception of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
