The World number 1 routed Spanish qualifier Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-2 6-1 in the round of 16. It was a clinical performance from the Serb as he fired 16 winners, won 70% of his first-serve points, and also saved 3 out of 4 breakpoints in the 70-minute encounter. 

On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated the in-form ninth-seeded Matteo Berrettini 7-6(3) 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals.

After losing his cool in the rainy conditions against Taylor Fritz, Novak Djokovic was more consistent against Fokina with his deep returns. The 18-time grand slam champion can force his opponents to play defensive tennis with his dogged resistance and steely determination. 

Stefanos Tsitsipas would be a bit concerned after landing only 53% of points on his first serve against Berrettini. The Greek managed to convert only 2 out of 7 breakpoints.
