Novak Djokovic will enter the center court on Sunday with an eye on his seventh Wimbledon title as he faces Australian cult hero Nick Kyrgios. 

The clash will serve as a treat to the fans as Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios go head-to-head in a monumental clash. Interestingly, despite having six Wimbledon titles to his name, the Serb has never beaten Kyrgios.

  • Djokovic will contest his 32nd Grand Slam final, this will be his eighth at the SW19

The clash on Sunday will be the third meeting between the pair and first on the grass court. 35-year-old Novak Djokovic has never beaten Nick Kyrgios in a competitive match. 

This will be the first meeting between the pair in five years, with both hard court meeting coming in 2017. On both occasions, Kyrgios won in straight sets and Djokovic will have to beat the record books to clinch his seventh Wimbledon title.

Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios: H2H Analysis

The No.1 seed has so far produced his best whenever required as he came from behind to Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal. The Serb has so far spent more than 15 hours on the court and will need to once again be at his best. 

He has so far played 200 games in the tournament that has comprised of 23 sets and is yet to play a tiebreak at the Wimbledon championships.

27-year-old Kyrgios gas amassed a total of 120 aces in the five matches he has played, averaging 24 aces per match and could once again be the biggest weapon on Sunday. On both occasions, he has beaten Djokovic he has used the serve to get the better of him. 

The underarm serve is another thing that could see Djokovic worried. With four days of rest, Kyrgios has an extra couple of days to recover which could come in handy.

Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios: Wimbledon Journey So Far

Djokovic dropped a set in the semifinal against Cameron Norrie but always looked convincing in the clash. The quarterfinal encounter was another occasion where the No.1 seed was tested, Djokovic came from 0-2 down to win in straight sets beating Sinner 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. 

It was an easy task for Novak Djokovic in the fourth round as he got past wildcard entrant Tim van Rijthoven in four sets. The Dutchman did trouble Djokovic, but the Serb looked in complete control of the match despite dropping a set and won 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Earlier the likes of Miomir Kecmanovic and Thanasi Kokkinakis were hardly any match to the defending champion as he got past them without dropping a set. Soonwoo Kwon also got a set out of Djokovic, but that didn’t have any effect in the first round clash as he made his way to the next round.

Nick Kyrgios

It has been a roller-coaster ride for unseeded Kyrgios so far in the tournament and will need to be at his best against the Serb. After a walkover against Rafael Nadal, he had earlier started  winning run against Paul Jubb in five sets in the opening round, Kyrgios has followed that with wins against Filip Krajinovic in three sets and then against fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a grueling four sets by winning 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6.

It again took five sets for Kyrgios to get past Brandon Nakashima before booking a place in the semifinal against Nadal by beating Cristian Garin in the quarterfinal.
