Bol Bol Traded to the Phoenix Suns after getting waved by Orlando Magic

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Phoenix Suns agreed to a one-year contract with centre Bol Bol in order to continue building their bench with young, affordable talent. The depth on a team that was so weak in the postseason, eventually losing in six games to the Denver Nuggets, was the main worry when they acquired Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards earlier in the summer.

The Suns signed Bol soon after selling point guard Cameron Payne to the San Antonio Spurs in return for a second-round pick and monetary considerations. They also gained three second-round picks from the Magic in exchange for a selection swap.

The Suns sent Payne, along with a second-round selection and cash, to the Spurs in exchange for a future-protected second-round pick. This opened the door for Phoenix to sign Bol, who was released earlier this month by Orlando. After three years in Denver, the 7-foot-2 son of former NBA player Manute Bol averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 points last season.

The Suns were busy at the start of free agency late last month, signing Yuta Watanabe, big men Chimezie Metu and Drew Eubanks, and wing Keita Bates-Diop.
