Chelsea closing in on £23m rated Serie A midfield ace

Premier League giants Chelsea are set to complete the £23 million signing of Matias Vecino from Italian giants Inter Milan in the summer, according to reports in England.

The Blues had their transfer ban lifted ahead of the January transfer window but failed to land a single player during that time.

And, the manager Frank Lampard has not been able to hide away his frustrations with the club due to that.

The West London club are desperate to make up for it in the summer as they have already started working on a number of deals.

They have already secured the signature of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax for the next season on deal near about £37 million.

Meanwhile, the Blues are being linked with several star players across the continent of Europe.

And, according to reports, Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino is high on Lampard's wishlist.

The Blues are determined to bolster their midfield and Vecino would be a player who could prove to be an asset for them.

It is understood that Inter manager Antonio Conte is willing to let the Uruguayan go in order to fund his own summer business.

Vecino started his professional career at Central Espanol and Nacional in his homeland Uruguay before making the switch to Italy in 2013 when he signed for Fiorentina.

Since then, he never had to look back and has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A.

He has been at Inter since 2017 after impressing for Fiorentina and Empoli on loan.

The Uruguayan international has been a regular in midfield and he has also netted three goals, including crucial strikes against Hellas Verona and rivals AC Milan.

The players seems to be keen on a new challenge and fancies the Premier League a lot.

Chelsea were linked with Vecino when Sarri was in charge of them last season and Manchester United and Everton were also reportedly after him in January.

Chelsea have maintained their interest in the energetic midfielder even after Sarri's departure and it seems that they are closing in on a deal for the 28-year-old.
