The 16-time grand slam champion has been unstoppable in Bercy. Despite the fast indoor courts, he has played the waiting game. Rock-solid defence was visible in the semifinal match against number 27, Grigor Dimitrov.

Trailing 3-5 in the first set tie-breaker, Novak fought hard winning the next four points to clinch the set. Dimitrov gave everything he had but could not breach the Serbian. Two points, 32 and 35 shots respectively, which Nole won in the tiebreak highlighted the toughness that he is made of. 

The roar at the end of the first set was followed by a silent look at the crowd at the end of the second set. A high first and second serve winning percentage of 83 and 82 respectively also benefited the Serbian.

On the other hand, the Canadian has been the star of the tournament. He will be fresher considering that number 2, Rafael Nadal pulled out of the semifinal due to an abdominal injury. 

“It is very satisfying honestly, because I have not really been feeling my best throughout the week. But I have been playing really well the past couple of matches,I am looking forward to the final", said Djokovic after his thrilling win in the semifinals against Dimitrov.

“It is awesome to be in my first Masters 1000 final, I am just going to go for it, see what I can do and just enjoy my time out there", said Shapovalov ahead of the big occasion.

The fans will look to bring in their part as the two players battle it out. Under the lights, this match is going to be remembered for a long time.
