La Liga clubs have been on top in spending money while for Premier League it hasn’t been a high spending transfer window so far. Real Madrid is the leading spender in the ongoing transfer market with €303,00 Million on five signings.

Premier League, on the other hand, has a shocked everybody as their highest spender of the summer transfer window is Aston Villa. The Lions have spent €148,70 Million on 12 signings so far.

As we come closer to the starting day of the top five European football clubs. Let’s find out the five most expensive signings of the 2019-2020 transfer window:

Lucas Hernandez

The former Atletico Madrid defender, Lucas Hernandez missed half of the previous La Liga season due to injury. The French defender played 14 games and made 2.5 tackles per game along with 3.4 clearances for Los Rojiblancos in the last season.

This is a good signing for Bayern Munich considering the defender was quite solid for France in their successful World Cup campaign. Also, the French defender is just 23-year-old and has a lot of football left in him. Even though, the defender missed the pre-season tour due to injury; he is expected to be fit for his first Bundesliga game against Hertha Berlin.

4) Matthijs de Ligt - €85,50 Million (Ajax to Juventus)

Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt was the backbone of Ajax in the last season. The 19-year-old defender led his side to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League after 22 years. He was also part of the Netherlands side that ended as runner-ups in the UEFA Nations League.

In the last season, the Old Lady faced a lot of issue at their backline. Also, with the aging Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. De Ligt is a perfect signing for Juventus and with his great leadership skills, we might see him leading the Italian club in the coming future.

3) Eden Hazard - €100,00 Million (Chelsea to Real Madrid)

 Eden Hazard

This was one of the most awaited transfers of this season. Eden Hazard showed interest in moving to Real Madrid at the end of the 2017-18 season, however, the Blues didn’t allow him to leave at that time.

Nevertheless, the former Chelsea winger has finally joined his dream club and will play under Zinedine Zidane in the coming season.

This is a solid signing for Los Blancos as their attack looked quite weak after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Also, there are a lot of issues going on with Gareth Bale and he might spend most of his next season on the bench. So, Hazard will be the key along with Luka Jovic in the coming season.

2) Antoine Griezmann - €120,00 Million (Atletico Madrid to Barcelona)

The fans criticized Antoine Griezmann interest of leaving Atletico Madrid a lot at the beginning of last season. It helped Los Rojiblancos in keeping their talisman at the club for another season. However, the French striker finally did what he wanted.

Barcelona signed Griezmann for €120,00 Million and made him the second most expensive signing in the Blaugrana’s history. Also, the addition of the French striker made Barcelona frontline heftier.

Let’s see, whether the Blaugrana’s complete their unfinished task of winning the Champions League in the next season.

1) Joao Felix - €126,00 Million (Benfica to Atletico Madrid)

Joao Felix

This was the most desperate signing of the ongoing transfer window. After the departure of Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona; Los Rojiblancos were in dire need of a striker.

Joao Felix is 19-year-old and spending so much money for him was a bit too much. However, Atletico have been known for creating great strikers and Felix being young might be a great future star for the Spanish side.

The Portuguese striker is quite talented, and we saw that in his performances for Benfica in last season. It will be interesting to see, how the 19-year-old cope with the pressure of playing in front of great defenders regularly and meet the hopes of Atletico as well.
