Jannik Sinner got off to a strong start to the season, by starting the Australian Open as the fourth seed and defeating Andrey Rublev 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Without losing a set, he advanced to the semifinals and faced Novak Djokovic.

In December 2023, the 23-year-old lost to the Serbian at the ATP Finals. Sinner completed the redemption by ending Djokovic's 34-match winning streak at the Rod Laver Arena. The Italian overpowered Djokovic with the winning percentage on his first serve (83% compared to Djokovic, 67%).

In the final, he lost the first two sets against Daniil Medvedev of Russia, who was vying for his second Grand Slam victory. But Medvedev lost the match in a five-set marathon after giving away the lead, just like in the 2022 Melbourne final. With the triumph, Sinner proved that he’s the future of tennis.

Sinner lost to longtime rival Carlos Alcaraz 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals of the Indian Wells Masters. However, he made a spectacular return at the 2024 Miami Open.  With wins over Andrea Vavassori, Tallon Griekspoor, Christopher O’Connell, and Tomas Machac, he reached the semifinals, where he locked horns against Daniil Medvedev for the first time since the Australian Open final.

But the outcome was the same regardless of the venue. Medvedev stood no chance in the match and ended up losing 6-1, 6-2. In the final, he faced Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, who had already defeated Hubert Hurkacz, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev. Nevertheless, the final ended up being a one-sided affair, as Dimitrov lost 6-3, 6-1.

After injury scares during the 2024 French Open, Jannik Sinner made his return on the tour at the Halle Open. Sinner defeated Tallon Griekspoor to begin his campaign after being seeded first in the grass-court tournament. Later, he defeated Jan-Lennard Struff and Fabian Marozsan in two three-set matches to secure a spot in the semifinals, where he faced Zhang Zhizhen of China.

After defeating the Chinese tennis star 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), Sinner advanced to the final. In the final, he faced his then-doubles partner Hubert Hurkacz of Poland. Hurkacz made no double faults and hit 13 aces against the Italian. However, Sinner had a first-serve percentage of 94%. Interestingly, both stars failed to break each other’s serve even once.

With a final score of 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-2), the ATP World No. 1 won his fourth title of the year. Sinner also joined the elite list of players who won their first tournament after becoming the World No. 1.

The match started with a tense first set, where Tiafoe threatened early but couldn’t capitalize on two break points. Throughout the match, Sinner's strong serving proved to be the deciding factor. He held five of his ten service games without losing a point, allowing Tiafoe to win only 11 return points in the entire match.

Sinner dominated the second set after winning the first-set tiebreaker. Despite his best efforts and three match points saved, Tiafoe was ultimately unable to match Sinner's consistency.

Yes, an exhibition tournament. But winning a title doesn't hurt, does it? And after defeating your greatest opponent on the tour, you should absolutely include it. Jannik Sinner won the inaugural Six Kings Slam trophy after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in three sets (6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3). The victory was the Italian's first against Alcaraz this year and also first in four meetings.

Sinner won the last two sets and the title after rallying from a set deficit. In addition to the $1.5 million appearance fee, Sinner, the current World No. 1 in tennis, received a staggering $6 million in prize money as a result of the victory, making it the most recent prize money in tennis tournament history.

Throughout the match, he maintained his composure and had a response for nearly every move Alcaraz made, including a forehand that reached 109 mph. It was quite fitting that the Sinner-Alcaraz clash followed the Novak Djokovic-Rafael Nadal match. As tennis enthusiasts bid farewell to one legendary rivalry, a new one has emerged.
