Juventus plotting massive offer for Liverpool superstar

Serial Serie A champions Juventus are plotting a stunning £150 million summer bid for Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Italian giants are eyeing to make the Liverpool superstar the most expensive defender once again after Harry Maguire overtook him for that record.

Van Dijk might have been overtaken by Maguire for the record of being the most expensive defender in the world, there can hardly be any dispute that the Dutchman is by far the best stopper in the world.

Having signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in 2018, the Serie A club have identified Van Dijk as the man who can help their fulfil their ambition of winning the Champions League.

In every transfer window in recent times, Juventus have gone from strength to strength. They have enjoyed a stunning monopoly in Italian football in the last decade but did not have the same luck in Europe.

It has been evident from their transfers in recent times that they are eyeing the biggest honour in Europe i.e. the Champions League that they won only twice. And, the Serie A champions believe that van Dijk can help them fulfil their ambitions.

It is understood that the 28-year-old Dutchman could be open to a move abroad if runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool win the title this season to add to their Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup honours.

However, Liverpool will surely not be open to the idea of selling one of their best players when they can dominate England and Europe for years to come.

The Netherlands skipper led his country to second place in the UEFA Nations League and also finished Ballon d’Or runner-up behind Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

Van Dijk last week admitted: “I’m 28 now and I want to fulfil every dream I ever had.

“Life can be short. Your career can be short as well.

“I’m enjoying playing with this team and this manager. We can’t look too far ahead. But right now, I’m enjoying it.”

Since Van Dijk's arrival, Liverpool have truly transformed as a team. He is not only their leader in defence but also leads the team from the back even without the armband.

Klopp will certainly do everything in his powers to keep the Dutchman at Anfield as he is not a player who can be sold for any price.
