List of all Liverpool managers in history: From Barclay & McKenna to Arne Slot

Arne Slot is now the Reds’ head coach as the next season looms over.

22 men and their team have rocked up at the Kop as full-time coaches at Liverpool. In his nine years as manager, Bob Paisley achieved six Football League crowns, six Charity Shields, three Football League Cups, three European Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, and one UEFA Cup, making him the most decorated manager in the history books of the club.

Tom Watson held the reins for nearly two decades during their early years from 1896 to 1915, making him the club’s longest-serving manager. The only guy to have led the team twice is former Liverpool great on and off the pitch, Kenny Dalglish. First from 1985 until February 1991, and then again from January 2011 to June 2012, he was Liverpool’s manager as he came out of retirement to give them their first trophy in 6 years after Roy Hodgson had run into muddy waters.

The list down below has been arranged chronologically of every manager of Liverpool’s first team since the team’s founding in 1892. The Reds have tasted a lot of success under man managers who have brought their different flavors of their times but retaining the constant of ushering eras of success and their European dominance where they won six Champions League.

Assuming the role of head coach, Slot will be the next Liverpool manager and will report to both Hughes and Michael Edwards, who has formally taken on the role of FSG’s CEO of Football.

Along with that it would also mark the homecoming of Julian Ward who has returned to the team a year later. He is now the technical director for FSG, implying that he is not as involved at Liverpool though he would be still someone Slot would rely on to take the Reds forward.
