Andy Murray vs Dominic Thiem: Head-to-Head

Murray and Thiem have a head to head of 2-2. Their last encounter was at the Beijing Open where Thiem won the match 6-2, 7-6 (7/3). Before that, they had met at the Barcelona Open in 2017 where Thiem won that match too.

Injured Pros back in court:

Andy Murray at the beginning of the tour had stated that he would not be playing the clay-court season due to his hip injury saying that it was causing him immense pain even while wearing shoes. Looks like after his second hip surgery he is moving a lot better than his last year matches.

Thiem on the other hand has not been able to play as many matches as his opponent. Last June, he injured his right wrist and was in rehabilitation until this year.

Thiem has only played 2 matches this year, after withdrawing from a majority of his 2021 tournaments. His last two matches were in Serbia and Marbella.

Meeting for the fifth time with an equal head to head count, Andy Murray and Dominic Thiem are eyeing a place in the second round of the Madrid Masters. Their second-round opponent may be Canadian youngster Denis Shapovalov or Polish star Herbert Hurkacz.

Prediction: Sportco predicts Andy Murray to edge past Dominic Thiem in the first round of the Madrid Masters.
