Napoli 1-3 Milan: Zlatan becomes oldest player to break another record

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was at it again after he fired a match-winning brace against Gennaro Gattuso's Napoli. The evergreen Rossoneri forward led the league leaders to an important victory

Milan star has now become the oldest player to score at least 10 goals in the first eight Serie A match days on Sunday.

The 39-year-old has surpassed Lazio's Silvio Pioli (29-year-old in 1942-43 season) with 10 league goals.

The visitors also won for the first time in Naples since 2010. The ex-Manchester United striker fired a brilliant header in the 20th minute of the game.

He then scored again after nine minutes into the second half from a well set cross from Ante Rebic. Reaching towards the 80 minute mark, Zlatan was seen holding the back of his leg and was consequently subbed off with what is supposed to be a hamstring injury.

Zlatan has also made another record after he matched Gunnar Nordahl for the second-most Serie A goals from first eight goals of a season, only two goals shy of Marco Van Basten (12 in 1992-93).

Jens Petter Hauge came off the bench and contributed to the game by scoring the third goal in injury time, after a consolation goal by Dries Mertens in the 63rd minute.

The Rossoneri are two points clear of Sassuolo now with 20 points after only eight games, only for the second in the era of three points per win.

The last time they achieved this feat was in 2003-04 when they went on to claim the Scudetto.

Zlatan's arrival has boosted Stefano Pioli and co. on some level as Milan have barely looked behind towards their disheartening recent past.

However, the times are changing as the ex-PSG striker's presence has played an instrumental role in making things work for a Milan side that had completely lost their way before the Swede arrived.

It may not be too hard to conclude that Zlatan's second stint with the Rossoneri has been more effective and crucial for the club as the Milan team back in the days had several match-winners.

The squad now has quality too but not many have the killer mentality to fight for everything until the end.
