NBA Shocker: Memphis Grizzlies' JA Morant Suspended for 25 Games, Fans React with Outrage

JA Morant has suspended 25 games for the latest gun-waving video. The Verdict is out.

The league found out that Morant was seen holding a gun on an Instagram Live video.

Morant and a firearm, the first of which resulted in an eight-game suspension after he brought a gun into a Denver nightclub. Morant was already suspended from all team activities after the gun incident – less than 3 months after he was caught again in a separate live stream.

Adam Silver addressed that claim a few days later and questioned if it should even matter whether the gun was real, as Morant previously served an eight games suspension without pay for the first incident.

Following the latest incident, Morant again met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver as a part of the latest investigation.

Before the start of the 2023 NBA Finals Adam Silver said in the press conference that he had uncovered more information about the incident and that Morant’s punishment would be announced after the Nuggets- Heat series.

Recently, in a statement, N.B.A Commissioner Adam Silver called Morant's actions “alarming and disconcerting “

Adam Silver added the potential for other young people to emulate Ja’s conduct is particularly concerning, Under the circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and make a clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behaviour with guns will not be tolerated.”

For Ja, basketball needs to take a back seat at this time. Prior to his return to play, he will be required to formulate and fulfil a program with the league that directly addresses the circumstances that led him to repeat that destructive behaviour.

In a statement, Morant apologized and said he would work on his mental health and decision-making.

I am sorry for the harm I have done, Morant said.” To the kids who look up to me, I am sorry for failing you as a role model. I promise I am going to be better; He added I hope you’ll give me the chance to prove to you over time I am a better man than what I have been showing you.

The point guard signed a five-year rookie maximum extension with the Grizzles in 2022 worth up to $231 million. Last year, Morant played in 61 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 26.2 points and 8.1 assists per game.
