Who Is Mahamadou Sangare? French Youngster Set to Join Manchester City
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are set to sign highly rated 18-year-old talent Mahamadou Sangaré from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Sangare played a pivotal role in PSG’s 2024–25 UEFA Youth League campaign, scoring an impressive eight goals and providing two assists in just six appearances. His standout performances have marked him as one of the most promising young prospects in European football.
However, the French junior player appears unwilling to remain and wait for first-team opportunities at the Parc des Princes.
Who is Mahamadou Sangare?

Mahamadou Sangare is an 18-year-old French centre-forward, born on March 6, 2007. He is currently a free agent, having most recently been with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mahamadou Sangare’s journey is truly inspiring. Driven by his dream of becoming a professional footballer, the determined striker made a bold move from Mali to Paris. Now, all eyes are on his next destination—the iconic Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England.
Born in Dionkoulane, a town in northern Mali, Mahamadou was raised in the bustling capital city of Bamako. From a young age, he could be found playing football on dusty, sandy pitches alongside neighborhood friends, honing his skills with passion and determination.
Though his father initially disapproved of football, preferring that Mahamadou focus on studying the Koran, he soon recognized his son’s undeniable love for the game. Understanding that France offered the best environment for nurturing young talent, his father decided that sending Mahamadou there was the key to unlocking his full potential and turning his football dreams into reality.
Mahamadou Sangare earned a trial with Racing Colombes 92 in Paris after relocating with his father to Cergy, just north of the capital. Impressively, he was included in the starting lineup for a friendly match in Lille the very next day—and scored within the first minute.
Despite being only 15 years old, Sangare joined Montrouge, another Paris-based club, in 2022. He quickly made his mark playing for their under-17 team, netting an astonishing 25 goals and providing five assists in just 20 games. His prolific scoring made him the division’s top scorer.
Ultimately, Sangare chose to join PSG, where he started with the under-19 squad and signed a youth contract in the summer of 2023. He closed the season with an impressive 32 goals, proving his lethal ability even while playing against opponents two years older than himself.
Although Mahamadou Sangare has never been included in a matchday squad, he began training with PSG’s first team in December of last year.
His impressive goal-scoring form in the Youth League quickly attracted significant attention, and last month it was reported that he had decided not to renew his contract with PSG, opting instead to explore opportunities with other clubs. By the end of April, he was said to have accepted an offer from Manchester City.
Sangare’s playing style
Sangare is incredibly fast, combining blistering pace with exceptional ball control as he charges down the field toward the goal. His uncanny knack for positioning himself perfectly—always arriving at the right place at the right time—makes him a constant threat in the attacking third.
With a lethal left foot, he can effortlessly convert chances into goals, whether with precise finesse or raw determination. His fearless approach to racing past defenders and unsettling opponents adds to his formidable presence on the pitch. This blend of elegance and grit is what makes Sangare such a prolific and captivating goal scorer.
