Premier League Team of the Week: Matchday 13

We are done with the Premier League Matchday 13 and we now have a new league leader in the form of Arsenal. A tough match away from home where Brentford fought till the very end but Kai Havertz left his mark to score a vital goal to give his team a must-win. Tottenham looks to let points slide away as they suffer their third straight loss of the campaign with Manchester City playing a draw to rivals Liverpool to drop to second and third position respectively.

Goalkeeper  

Andre Onana

Team: Manchester United  

Cameroon International Andre Onana has started to show signs of why he was chosen as the main goalkeeper above legend David De Gea and was paid 50 million Euros to Inter Milan for his signature. Premier League is undoubtedly a tough league to adapt and while it took some time for the Manchester United shot-stopper, he performed on an elite level to keep a clean sheet against Everton.

Left-back

Oleksandr Zinchenko  

Team: Arsenal

Ukrainian captain Oleksandr Zinchenko has been a great addition to the team since his arrival last year from Manchester City. A player who has experience in the Premier League captains his national side and can be utilised in a various number of positions, the inverter full-back has been a vital player in Mikel Arteta’s transformed Arsenal.

Pau Torres

Team: Aston Villa  

Missed a sitter during the start of the match, PAU Torres compensated for his mistake and scored a sublime header on an even better delivery from Douglas Luiz. The defender not only was able to score but proved to be a difference maker in the defensive line as well which helped his team encounter a tough Tottenham Hotspur’s side to climb up to 4th position.

Tom Lockyer

Team: Luton Town

With six vital clearances, alongside four interceptions, two tackles and seven duels won, Luton Town was among the relegation battlers who won a game in the Premier League Matchday 13 to keep their survival hopes alive. Important 3 points bring them a little closer to safety with more than half of the season left, the Club Hierarchy would certainly be hoping to count on Tom for the same kind of performances in the remaining season as well.

Diego Dalot

Team: Manchester United

Diego Dalot was a signing earmarked as a potential great by ex-manager Jose Mourinho. A fast and pacy right back who can also play at the left was the assist provider for Garnacho’s super bicycle. Dalot also made a total of six tackles and interceptions combined, as well as two clearances, a block and three key passes in all to cement his place in the team of the week.

Midfield

Declan Rice

Team: Arsenal

The driving force, the engine behind Arsenal’s midfield, England international Declan Rice has been an unstoppable force of nature in the Arsenal squad. Worth every penny spent, the player had his talkers shut their craps by showing exceptional performances in almost every match that he has played for the Gunners. Certainly a key player in the team.

Mohammed Kudus

Team: West Ham

Mohammed Kudus was a steal from Ajax for just 40 million Euros. West Ham bet big money on signing him, rivalling a lot of big teams for his signature. He was involved in both goals which made his side win the Premier League encounter against Burnley who led the math for about 3 fourth of the game. An assist and the cross that got deflected in the goal by O Shea, he became a key member of the team of the week.

Midfield  

Kai Havertz

Team: Arsenal

On top of the Premier League for the first time this season, Kai Havertz was the sole goal scorer in the Brentford encounter that guided his team to win. Fans and the press have been quite critical in assessing Kai Havertz on how much he cost the Gunners and the form he has been showing, but he silenced the critics by becoming the difference maker in the last match for sure.

Left-wing

Anthony Gordon

Team: Newcastle United

With an injury to Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon Getting the nod, undoubtedly the winger has proven to be a key player in the starting 11 for the Magpies. A goal and an assist against Chelsea take his tally to 8 goal involvements in this year's Premier League season in only 12 games with 16 matches yet to be played and a lot more expected of him.

Ollie Watkins  

Team: Aston Villa

  

Ollie Watkins is a name in the making. The England international is next to Harry Kane in the most in-form English strikers in the world and he is proving that for his club side Aston Villa in the Premier League. Yet another game and yet another goal from the Aston Villa talisman with high hopes of him continuing the form for the latter stages of the season too.

Right-wing

Bukayo Saka

Team: Arsenal

Probably the last Arsenal man on this week's Premier League team of the week as he proves to be the provider yet again and has taken his tally to 9 goals and assists this season. A much-transformed player under manager Mikel Arteta from being a left back to a right winger, the Hale end prodigy is a fixed player in the Arsenal starting lineup.
