The first goal that he scored in the 21st minute was really an absolute display of physical prowess as he capitalised on a dreadful defensive error committed by Matthew Lowton.

He then created space for himself by performing a step-over to produce a left0footed finish which went past Burnley shot stopper, Nick Pope.

Christian Pulisic became the first-ever American to score for the Blues, and just before half-time his low right-footed drive deflected off by Ben Mee made it 2-0 for Chelsea.

The winger was unstoppable as he added another one to his tally by scoring a header from Mason Mount's cross in the 56th minute. Burnley fans were quite stunned by this as their players were well-known for preventing set piece attacks by opponents.

But the home team never seemed to give up as Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil scored in the space of the final four minutes thus ending the match in a more thrilling fashion.

Coach Frank Lampard took a moment to heap praise on his american prodigy. He said, "I am absolutely delighted for him. A lot of talk around Christian for the big price tag, for the fact he's quite rightly a star in his country and plays for the USA so well."
