Top 5 clubs Enzo Fernandez could join in the 2026 summer transfer window

Enzo Fernández’s recent comments have reportedly “divided Chelsea’s dressing room,” leaving some teammates frustrated. Now, the midfielder might be more open to leaving the club. A summer move could be on the cards if the situation at Chelsea doesn’t improve.

Fernández has realized that his words could have lasting consequences, and this might signal the end of his time in West London. Unsurprisingly, several top clubs would be eager to sign a player of his quality.

5. Manchester City

Manchester City have been linked with a potential move for the midfielder this summer, following Fernández’s recent comments. Fernández is an excellent passer with a knack for arriving in the box, reminiscent of a peak İlkay Gündoğan.

City are still in the process of rebuilding their midfield after the departures of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, and Gündoğan in recent years. While they may soon need to find a replacement for Bernardo Silva, it seems unlikely that the club will spend heavily on signing Fernández this summer.

4. Atlético Madrid

Although Enzo Fernández has made noticeable progress since the start of the 2024–2025 season, he has always seemed better suited to the style of football in Spain. His game fits LaLiga’s slower tempo, where he could thrive.

In west London, he’s shined as an auxiliary No. 10, but he might not be the perfect tactical fit for Simeone’s 4-4-2 system. On top of that, Atlético Madrid might hesitate to spend a large sum on a player for a position where they are already relatively well-stocked. Their primary goal remains finding a replacement for Antoine Griezmann.

3. Al Hilal

If Fernández were to push for a transfer at the end of the season, there’s no doubt that the Saudi Pro League clubs backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) could make a tempting offer to Chelsea.

However, the 25-year-old doesn’t seem eager to move to the Middle East at this stage of his career. He appears more interested in continuing to play in Europe for the foreseeable future.

2. Paris Saint-Germain

Adding Fernández looks like another example of the rich getting richer in a team. In Spain, there are even rumors that Luis Enrique is keen to bring him in, believing he perfectly suits his style of play.

With his ball-handling skills, Fernández should thrive in a team that dominates possession. But he’s far from flawless—he’s a weak runner when out of possession and generally struggles defensively.

1. Real Madrid

Real Madrid are looking to fill the void left by Toni Kroos and have put together an extensive wishlist of midfield targets ahead of the summer transfer window. Among the names reportedly on their radar is Enzo Fernández.

The 25-year-old recently mentioned on a podcast that he would prefer to live in Madrid, fueling speculation about a potential move. However, any transfer could prove costly, as Chelsea are expected to demand a significant fee for the midfielder. Only time will tell if the deal comes to fruition.
