Nevertheless, a welcome return to the international stage at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, in the same arena in which she made her breakthrough on the world stage almost exactly a decennium earlier, saw her pick up where she left off.

But this time, the Houston resident had an altogether different view of her sport, telling Olympics.com at the championships: "Gymnastics is something that I do, and it's not who I am as a person and I think it took years to realize that. It's kind of nice to break out of that shell."
