Who is Tanush Kotian? Mumbai all-rounder added to India's BGT squad for remaining Tests

Tanush Kotian from Mumbai is poised to join the Indian team in Australia for the remainder of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, having been included in the squad as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket after the completion of the third test match of the series held in Brisbane. Although he played in the second test in Adelaide, he was not selected for the first and third tests, where Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja were chosen instead.

Kotian, however, is not expected to be included in India's playing XI for either of the two tests. The lively, green pitch at the MCG necessitates the selection of only one spinner, and Jadeja's half-century in Brisbane has secured his place in the lineup while Sundar is already part of the squad. Nevertheless, the young player will utilize this opportunity to familiarize himself with the Indian Test team and to leave a positive impression on the team management during practice sessions.
