Even though there is a lot of time for the IPL to start, the big news coming out is the date for the 2020 IPL Auction has been announced.

The auction for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League will be held in Kolkata after the trading window closes in November. According to reports, the mini-auction will take place on 19th December..

It would be a small auction where some new players and a few released players will go under the hammer. Teams like CSK who have a well-settled unit will look to target only a couple of big players in this upcoming auction. So, let’s have a look at the two players which CSK should target in the 2020 auction.

Glenn Maxwell

The primary reason for CSK reaching the final last year was their bowling attack. Their batting let them down on several occasions but the bowlers put their hands up and performed for their team.

CSK’s middle-order disappointed the most last season. The likes of Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav failed to deliver as they didn’t score many runs. All of these batsmen don’t have age on their side and will find it even more difficult this season.

So, CSK needs an explosive middle-order batsman who can change the game in a matter of few overs. And who better than Glenn Maxwell to take up that role. He would be a really good fit in CSK’s middle-order. He can even bowl a few handy overs of spin and he always brings in a lot as a fielder. He would be a great package for CSK and they should look to get this player in the upcoming auction.

Jimmy Neesham

CSK might have a lot of spin bowling all-rounders but they don’t have many seam bowling all-rounders. If you leave out Dwayne Bravo there isn’t another overseas seam-bowling all-rounder in the CSK team. Even Bravo is at the fag end of his career where several injuries are troubling him.

CSK should look to get a back-up for Bravo and one of the players who come to the mind is the Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham. He is a player who will do whatever is asked of him. He can bat at any position, depending on the situation and is ready to bowl the death overs as well. The New Zealander is a handy cricketer who can deliver for Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni is a fan of such cricketers and so it won’t come as a surprise if CSK target Neesham in this auction.
