Barcelona set for a big loss by letting flop attacking midfielder leave

As per reports in Spain, Barcelona could be ready to endure a £60 million loss on £145 million flop Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian superstar failed to replicate his form for Liverpool at Camp Nou following his mega move to the Catalan club.

Barcelona managed to ship him off to Bayern Munich on loan who had an option to sign the 27-year-old permanently. But, it is understood that the Bavarian giants will not pay the £102 million asking price.

It is reported in Spain that Barcelona "would accept with their eyes closed" a bid of around £68m to £77m.

Chelsea, Manchester United and even Coutinho's former club Liverpool have been linked with the 27-year-old over the past year.

But his enormous wage could prove to be a problem as too many clubs cannot afford to pay that.

Barcelona reportedly hoped to cash in on Coutinho during the winter transfer window itself, to fund a move for Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Injuries to Luis Suarez and now Ousmane Dembele meant that the Blaugrana needed reinforcements at the top.

The Catalan giants are so desperate that they have even sought emergency permission to sign 32-year-old Getafe super-sub Angel outside the transfer window.

Meanwhile, they are keen on putting Coutinho's forgettable two-year spell in the past by selling him in the summer even if it means a big financial loss for them

The Blaugrana boss Quique Setien has remaining positive, despite injury woes and trailing La Liga leaders Real Madrid by three points.

Setien said: "I’ve had set-backs all my career.

"I know all clubs have problem but I have to concentrate on the football."

Barcelona's only fit forwards are Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and 17-year-old Ansu Fati which certainly does not look good.
