Barcelona looking to sign Man city striker as Luis Suarez replacement

Spanish giants Barcelona have contacted Manchester City over a move for Gabriel Jesus if reports in England are to be believed.

The Brazilian striker has allegedly been identified by the La Liga giants as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez.

The 33-year-old Suarez has been told that he is no longer wanted at the Nou Camp by new boss Ronald Koeman. That discussion also factored into Lionel Messi’s decision to hand in a transfer request, with the forward unhappy at the treatment of best pal and neighbor Suarez. The South American pair's families share a close bond and regularly holiday together.

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol voiced his support of Messi on Tuesday evening. The treble-winning former captain tweeted: "Respect and admiration, Leo. All my support, friend."

Suarez replied with two clapping hands emojis but he will not decide his next move until his lawyers have agreed on an exit deal with Barcelona.

Now according to Globo Esporte in Brazil and AS in Spain, City ace Gabriel Jesus is the man they hope to replace the Uruguayan superstar with.

And it has been claimed Barcelona have already made contact with the relevant officials at the Etihad over a possible deal. It is not the first time the star, 23, has been linked with a move away from the blue half of Manchester.

Both Juventus and Inter Milan are also believed to have inquired about him in the past and could compete with Barcelona if the Cityzens look to sell him.

Meanwhile, Barcelona as well as the whole football world have been shaken by the news of Messi handing in a transfer request. Manchester City are right now the favourites to land the Argentine superstar while Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be in the race.
