Top 5 Boxing Fights that fans want to witness in 2022

It was a great year for boxing in 2021 as there were many big events, new world champions, and huge upsets that took place inside the ring.

2022 is expected to be even bigger than the last year and it would be so if the fans were given what they want the most.

In this article, Sportco lists down 5 boxing fights that would create a stir in 2022 amongst boxing fans across the globe.

5. Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury

Jake Paul is one of the hot topics in the world of combat sports; he has stirred up the whole boxing as well as the MMA scene.

The young star is yet to be defeated, however, he is yet to face a real boxer as well. His first fight with the Fury brother was cancelled as Tommy suffered an injury.

We want to see how Jake Paul does against someone who’s got a little more experience in the sport of boxing than his previous opponents.

Both of them are young, famous and both are yet to fight against someone good in the sport, it is the perfect matchup for both fighters.

4. Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia

The Tank vs The King has been on the build for years now. Both fighters are considered to be amongst the future of the beautiful sport. Davis is already a World Champion but hasn’t fought the highest-ranked fighters.

Ryan Garcia has fought against Campbell but is yet to face a World Champion; it would be a huge fight in terms of PPV sales since the fighters have a huge fan following behind them.

Ryan Garcia has been inactive for over a year now and Gervonta Showed that he isn’t untouchable in his last fight. Both the fighters need a build-up fight before they go up against one another. It would be one of the biggest fights in the modern lightweight era.

3. Teofimo Lopez vs Vasiliy Lomachenko 2

The first fight was something of an upset where the Great Lomachenko would fail to become the undisputed king of the lightweight division. Teofimo Lopez would win the fight but he would fail to defend it against George Kambosos.

It wasn’t like Lomachenko was dominated the first fight, he just had an extremely slow start and a weak finish against Lopez.

Since then, Lomachenko has had 2 fights and has looked great in both of them. Lopez will be looking for a rematch against Kambosos and Lomachenko would be looking for a rematch against Lopez.

2. Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk

Second on our list of boxing fights to look forward to in 2022 would be Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk caused a huge stir in the heavyweight division after he dominated the former 2 times World Champion, Anthony Joshua.

He outboxed the Brit in some style, showcasing the highest level of footwork mixed with beautiful combinations. This style is similar to another heavyweight boxer and that’s Tyson Fury.

Usyk and Fury are most likely the most skilled boxers in the division and it would be unfair to see them not fight against each other for the undisputed title.

It has been a few decades since we last saw someone winning the title of undisputed in the heavyweight division and it's about time we see it gets done.

1. Canelo vs GGG 3

After the first controversial draw, Saul Canelo Alvarez bounced back to win the second fight against Gennady Golovkin. Canelo seemed undefeatable ever since the Floyd Mayweather fight until he faced Golovkin the first time.

Many people think it was a loss for Canelo even though the fight ended in a draw decision. In the second fight, Canelo won against the Middleweight World Champion but did he look dominant? No, and this is exactly why we need to see a third bout between the two.

Canelo has shown it time and time again that no one in the current boxing scene is anywhere near as good as him. No one has come close to defeating the Mexican, except Gennady Golovkin.

Both the fighters have gone on to win multiple fights in dominating fashion since their last bout. It is about time we finally get to see a third fight against the two of them, especially since Golovkin is already quite old.

So dear readers, which boxing fights amongst these are you looking forward to the most in 2022?
