Cavani asked to wait until Summer for a move to a different club

Edinson Cavani was claimed to have fallen out of the favor at Paris Saint-Germain and therefore he was linked with a winter transfer exit. Now, however, the move looks unlikely.

Cavani is looking to stay in Paris after PSG boss Thomas Tuchel suggested that January transfers will cause problems in the team's balance and may affect the performances.

The 32-year-old is into the final six months of his contract and has been linked with Atletico Madrid. Sporting director Leonardo has told Cavani that he will not be allowed to leave in January, despite pre-season arrival of Internazionale's former striker Mauro Icardi limiting him to just four Ligue starts this season.

Cavani was also said to be a Manchester United and Arsenal's target, however, the Uruguyan is all set to see out his contract in Paris.

Tuchel in an interview openly mentioned about having the same thoughts as of the sporting director and the fact that difficult decisions need to be made.

He said," We don't like to change during the winter. It's not a monopoly, it's a locker room, men who get on well together and who have formed a spirit."

"Each player entering or leaving creates uncertainty. If it's not necessary to change, that's fine. I am happy with the group."

PSG, however, have looked unaffected with Cavani's absence as Neymar, Icardi and Kylian Mbappe have scored 28 goals between them.

According to Tuchel, Cavani is still fighting for his place and there is healthy competition between him and Icardi. Cavani scored a brace in a recent Coupe De France game in a thumping 6-0 victory.

PSG also have a tough UCL clash with the German giants, Borussia Dortmund, which will be an entertaining tie to watch after the arrival of Erling Braut Haaland.
