Arsenal manager provides update on Spanish international

Newly-appointed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a big update on his plans regarding a player who has been more of a forgotten entity at the Emirates in recent weeks, Dani Ceballos.

The Spanish midfielder has not featured for the Gunners since early November as he suffered a torn muscle. Even though he has made a comeback from the injury recently, he is yet to play a single minute under Arteta who took over the Gunners last month.

The Spanish international did start the season on a good note and was one of the rare shining lights in the under-performing Arsenal squad. And, it has to be seen how the Real Madrid loanee fares under Arsenal's new boss.

Arsenal host a strong and inspired Sheffield United side on Saturday and Ceballos is in line to make the squad and Arteta was full of praise for his compatriot.

“Dani had an injury where he was out for almost two months and had to go to Madrid for his rehab,” Arteta said.

“He came back and in the first few weeks, I didn’t think that he was physically at the level to compete for starting games.

It’s true that I have players in that position who have been performing really well, and last week when I believed that he was ready to step in, I decided to pick another player.

“But he’s been training good, I’m happy with him and I know him really well, so there’s no issues there.”

Arsenal's form has improved a bit under Arteta and Ceballos' inclusion to the side could be a big boost for the north London giants. Especially with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang set to miss three games due to suspension, Arteta needs to rethink his tactics and Ceballos is someone who can prove to be a great option for the 37-year-old manager in the midfield.

It would be good to see Dani Ceballos back out on the pitch for Arsenal. The Spaniard has really shown his quality at times and played a crucial role in the squad before his injury.

Also, the Spaniard is capable of playing in a number of roles. He is comfortable as a number ten as well as a number eight and we have to wait to see in which role Arteta uses him.
