Chelsea

Edouard Mendy

Busier of the two goalkeepers, Mendy was instrumental for Chelsea in keeping his clean sheet intact and one of the reasons why Chelsea kept Liverpool shut. Made one excellent save in the shootout, but wasn’t enough as Liverpool clinched the FA Cup.

Rating – 7/10

Thiago Silva

Injured earlier in the match Thiago Silva was at his vintage best and showed class against the likes of Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz to keep them shut.

Rating - 7.5/10

Antonio Rudiger

The German defender will be a free agent in the summer but still was giving his best shot for the club as Chelsea kept the Liverpool front three shut. Rudiger could have done better at times to stop Luis Diaz from making runs but still rock solid at the back.

Rating – 7/10

Trevoh Chalobah

A surprise starter ahead of skipper Cesar Azpilicueta, both Chalobah and Thomas Tuchel will be proud of the performance.

Rating – 7/10

Reece James

The English defender was solid at the back while he didn’t offer too much threat in terms of the attack.

James did pick up a yellow card in the match, but still not a bad day as he kept Liverpool at bay for the majority of the contest. James scored in the shootout, but couldn’t prevent the ultimate embarrassment.

Rating – 7/10

Marcos Alonso

The Spaniard struck the woodwork in the match and almost gave Chelsea the lead but was unfortunate not to have given his side the lead.

Alonso was good in both offence and defense and was great addition whenever called into action. He scored in the shootout to give Chelsea a lead.

Rating – 7.5/10

Jorginho

The Italian controlled the midfield and looked excellent with his passing play. Jorginho didn’t offer too much in the attacking part but scored in the shootout to keep Chelsea hopes alive.

Rating – 7/10

Mateo Kovacic

Kovacic was substituted in the match but by the time he departed his job was done to perfection. He could have offered more in terms of attack, but defensively apply his trade to keep the midfield of Liverpool shut.

Rating – 7/10

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic had a decent outing in the contest and was the best Chelsea player in terms of the chances he created. Pulisic was undone by some great defending while he was also guilty of missing chances as well.

Rating – 7/10

Romelu Lukaku

Another one of Chelsea’s surprise starters, Lukaku tried to hold up possession and wasn’t given too much of a space in the opposition penalty area. Lukaku would have done with a goal on the day, but gave his best shot.

Rating – 5/10

Mason Mount

The English attacker will be disappointed after missing the penalty in the penalty shootout. Mount was off the radar from his usual standards and offered little compared to what he offers often. A poor finishing touch in the final third summed up his game.

Rating – 6.5/10

Ngolo Kante

Kante came on as a substitute and shut the opposition midfield and did what he was asked to do. Crucial interceptions and winning the ball in the midfield was a feather in the cap for Kante in the match but ended on the wrong side of the result.

Rating – 8/10

Hakim Ziyech

Ziyech was called as a substitute and did what was asked of him by throwing in crosses and drilling the ball. Ziyech even scored in the shootout and looked to have given Chelsea the decisive advantage before Mason Mount missed his chance.

Rating – 7/10

Cesar Azpilicueta

The Chelsea skipper only started on the bench and missed a crucial penalty in the shootout. Azpilicueta could have done more, but with him starting on the bench there was no much joy for him.

Rating – 5/10

Liverpool

Alison Becker

The Brazilian made two great saves in the shootout and was also at his stellar best in the normal time. Alison’s excellent composure and ability to save the penalties has made him a cult hero for Liverpool in recent times

Rating – 8.5/10

Andy Robertson

Like the Chelsea left-back, Robertson also had a great day at the office and had the best chance of the game as he struck the woodwork. Robertson did his attacking as well as defensive duties to perfection.

Rating – 7.5/10

Virgil Van Djik

The Dutch centerback was substituted in the extra time and hardly put a foot wrong in the entire contest. Van Djik’s fitness issues could be a huge problem to have but on the day he was excellent and did his job to perfection.

Rating – 7.5/10

Ibrahim Konate

Konate was Liverpool's second best player in the match as he kept the backdoors shut. Konate was influential in the defense and took over the leader's role once Van Djik had departed. Konate's overall play was superb as he kept Romelu Lukaku shut.

Rating – 8/10

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold made both defensive and offensive contributions to the side and was seen gathering pace to put in some good crosses.

The English defender scored in the shootout and almost gave Liverpool the title before Mane missed his opportunity. Luckily for him Liverpool prevailed to win the FA Cup.

Rating – 8/10

Konstantinos Tsimikas

The Greek star didn't have much to offer in the match apart from the winning penalty. The left back didn't make any mistake from the spot, which was his only notable contribution of the evening.

Rating – 8/10

James Milner

The veteran Milner didn't offer much of a threat when introduced but was drilling crosses in tandem in later part. Milner provided a great cross before Luis Diaz failed to convert in the dying moments of the normal time.

Rating – 7.5/10

Jordan Henderson

The Liverpool skipper has now won every single trophy with Liverpool as a captain and was great going his job in the midfield. Henderson was a key player in the midfield as Liverpool missed the services of Fabinho, who was injured in the midweek.

Henderson stuck to his task and complemented the midfield by throwing passes and making defensive interceptions.

Rating – 7.5/10

Thiago

Thiago was seen doing no-nonsense work for Liverpool as he scored in the shootout as well held the defensive line perfectly and was often seen making key passes. Thiago’s ball distribution was another key aspect of his game.

Rating – 8/10

Nabi Kieta

In absence of Fabinho, Kieta did a perfect midfield job by throwing in challenges at decisive moments and also putting in shifts. Although he was substituted with his inability to make offensive distributions, Kieta was nailed on whenever called into action.

Rating – 7.5/10

Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane had his heart in his mouth as his penalty was saved in the shootout, but Alison's save made it up for him. Man's overall play was again excellent and got the opposition in all sorts of trouble with his lethal pace and distribution.

Rating – 7.5/10

Diego Jota

The Portugal star was called in action early on after Salah went injured. Jota did stuck to his chance but lacked the finishing touch, but did make his contribution by scoring in the penalty shootout.

Jota could have added more to his game but was kept silent by Thaigo Silva and company and didn't offer much threat to them.

Rating – 7.5/10

Mohammed Salah

An injury saw Salah being substituted early in the match and didn’t have the desired effect on the match. His absence will be a huge concern for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp ahead of a Champions League final.

Rating – 5/10

Luis Diaz

The best player on the field, Luis Diaz was the ‘Man of the Match’ and could have won the game for Liverpool in normal time. However, he ran out of steam towards the end but did his job and could have snatched it for the Reds.

Rating – 8.5/10
