In his previous encounters with Magpies, Cristiano Ronaldo has netted a hattrick in a 6-0 demolition to Newcastle on 12th Jan 2008, and then a brace and an assist at St James’ Park in a 5-1 win on 23rd Feb 2008. 

These games were the starting of a new era for the Portuguese forward who later scored 31 goals that season in the league and claimed his first of his five Balon D’or trophies.

The Magpies supporters will be dreading the sight of the Portuguese talisman when 5-times Ballon d’Or starts for Manchester United on Saturday, which will bring back old memories.
