Miseries plague Real Madrid as Eden Hazard gets injured in loss to Levante

Eden Hazard suffered an injury in Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat away to Levante on Saturday. The winger will be now absent for a brief period as he has been diagnosed with a fissure in the right distal fibula.

He will also miss a couple of high profile clashes against Manchester City and FC Barcelona. The extent of the injury is high and it is reported that he could miss out on the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.

The 29-year old had just returned from a three-month absence following a hairline crack in his feet. Now things have gone from bad to worse as Hazard limped off in Saturday's La Liga match with the recovery time slated to be three to four months.

This is a major setback for the Belgium captain as he has featured only in 10 La Liga games for los blancos since his mega money move from Stamford Bridge.

Hazard was replaced by Vinicius Junior in the 67th minute. Zinedine Zidane looked uncomfortable with the Belgian picking up an injury.

"I think it's a knock to the same area where he suffered his last injury and it does not look good," Zidane said.

It can become weak where you've had an injury. It is a blow, let's see.

"It's sore now but we'll see tomorrow [Sunday] when we do more tests."

Captain Sergio Ramos was also frustrated with the situation and expressed his anguish in a social media post

"We are pissed off, but we can't allow our heads to drop. We have to reset now and tomorrow push harder than ever before for a very important week. We're counting on you"

The match was a very pathetic outing for Madrid as Luis Morales' stunning strike saw them drop points.

Los Blancos are currently behind rivals Barcelona in the League table and only a win against them in the next El Clasico match on March 2 can save Real Madrid's hopes of winning this season's La Liga title.
