FIFA WC 2022 | Semi-final | Probable Playing XI for Argentina

With the FIFA World Cup 2022 having entered the final four stages, teams have begun preparations for the blockbuster ties that will see them play in the final of the tournament. One of the favorites to clinch the tournament, Argentina, will look to put a match-winning Playing Xi to make the final.

So it remains to be seen what line-up they go with, so ahead of Argentina’s blockbuster semifinal against Croatia, here is a look at their probable Playing XI.

Emiliano Martínez

The goalkeeper has been in superb form for Argentina and will remain in between the sticks for the two-time World Champions.

Christian Romero

The Tottenham Hotspur defender has been rock-solid and thus should keep his place intact despite competition for places.

Nicolas Otamendi

The experienced defender showed his class in the quarterfinal meeting and highlighted why he is one of the best defenders in the tournament.

Lisandro Martinez

The Manchester United man should keep his place intact in the team considering manager Lionel Scaloni stays with the same formation of back three.

Nicolas Tagliafico

While Marcos Acuna remains suspended, Nicolas Tagliafico remains a well-worthy deputy capable of putting in shifts, both as full-back and wing-back.

Nahuel Molina

Molina should also keep his place in the Playing XI, having done equally well in the defensive and attacking side of things.

Alexis Mac Allister

Scoring goals and putting vital blocks defensively has seen Mac Allister blossom in the midfield and that makes him a good choice in the midfield.

Enzo Fernandez

The Benfica man has done his business swiftly, having mustered an assist and a goal so far. He remains a vital player in the opposition territory as Argentina looks to boss the midfield.

Rodrigo de Paul

Another member with a close eye, Rodrigo de Paul faces tough competition to be a part of the Starting XI, but he should make it considering his form. De Paul will be vital in the middle of the park as Argentina play the pressing game.

Julian Alvarez

Ahead of Paulo Dybala and Angel Di Maria, the Manchester City boy has been in excellent touch with four goals to his name and could yet make a mark. A goal from him could not be ruled out as he remains in the best nick of form.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi should be the first name on the playing sheet as he continues to take the World Cup by storm having shattered records of late. The engine room of the team, Lionel Messi should come good for the national side as a permanent feature.
