FIFA WC 2022 | Top performers in Quarter final stage of World Cup

After a frantic couple of days in the FIFA World Cup 2022 quarterfinals, the stage is set for the big boys and newcomers as Argentina and France accompany Croatia and Morocco for the semifinal showdown.

While there was a piece of history in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the form of Morocco, who became the first team from the African continent to make the last four, there were also top boys on an individual basis who glittered on the stage. So, here is a look at the top performers from the quarterfinal stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Emiliano Martínez

The Argentina goalkeeper made two excellent saves in the match penalty shootout win against the Netherlands to be the unlikely hero for the South American giants. Martinez has been solid with his reflexes and showcased to the world why he is one of the best in the business. While Wout Weghorst made an impact to disturb Martinez’s attention, he was looking like a gem for the majority of the contest and was unbeatable at times.

Neymar

Neymar may have ended on the wrong side of the result in the end, but his performance was still eye-catching to take the headlines. Not before he scored in the 105th minute, Neymar turned out to be the best player on the field with his dribbles and making runs. In the end, it was the lottery of the penalty shootout that got the better of his team Brazil. However, taking the opposition defense by storm was one of the great features of Neymar’s game on Friday.

Wout Weghorst

A brace in no time saw Weghorst make the biggest impact possible for his team to take the match into extra time and then the penalty shootout. Weghorst came onto the field when his side trailed 0-2 and needed a quick reaction, which came in as soon as he made his presence felt. Like Neymar, Weghorst also ended up on the losing side courtesy of the penalty shootout lottery, but he did not put a foot wrong for the time he spent on the field against Argentina.

TEAM MOROCCO

Youssef En-Nesyri might have scored the winner against Portugal for Morocco, but it is hard to make a claim for any individual to be criticized as the entire team gave their best to achieve a historic feat. Whether it was Hakim Ziyech in the attack or Achraf Hakami in the defense, all the players played an important role in making the final four. A true spirit that needs special recognition was on showcase with the bench also coming to the aid in the form of Achraf Dari and Walid Cheddira.
