Haaland, Maddison among top transfer targets for United

Manchester United might have beaten Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in their last two league fixtures, but it is pretty evident that there are loopholes in their squad.

They have exciting young players who provide them a lot of pace, but they are not quite there in terms of skills as compared to some of their league rivals.

The Red Devils are currently using Marcus Rashford as the centre forward.

While the 21-year old has done decently in the recent weeks, many people are of the opinion that he is more of a winger than a centre forward and United would be better off bringing in a proper centre forward in winter if they have to keep themselves in contention for top 4.

Erling Haaland, who is currently playing for the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, is believed to be the top target of Manchester United for the centre forward position.

Haaland has been mighty impressive across all competitions this summer including the Champions League. What might also go in his favour is that he has worked with the Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past when the duo was at Molde.

Another area which United is looking to strengthen is the attacking midfield position.

With Paul Pogba out injured and there being no certainty over the timing of his return, United is looking for a midfielder who has the ability to move the ball forward and provide the services to the offensive line to work with.

A couple of players who have been reportedly shortlisted for the role are James Maddison of Leicester City and Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur.

Maddison’s efficiency in the midfield is one of the main reasons why Leicester is flying in the Premier League at the moment.

The 23-year old has been in sublime form in the last couple of seasons and although, he will probably cost United something in the range of 100 million pounds, they might still go for him.
