Former Chelsea star wanted by London rivals West Ham United

Chelsea's Champions League hero Salomon Kalou is reportedly set for a Premier League return with arch London rivals West Ham.

As per reports in Germany, the Hertha Berlin forward is wanted by David Moyes ahead of Friday’s winter transfer window deadline.

The Bundesliga side are on the verge of a stunning £27million deal for out of favour AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

And, that has reportedly pushed 34-year-old Kalou out of Jurgen Klinsmann’s plans for the remainder of the season.

The Ivorian was already struggling for playing time even before the signing of Piatek and it is believed that Klinsmann wants to offload the versatile forward.

It’s believed that West Ham are keen on snapping up the 97-capped Ivory Coast international as Moyes looks to lead his team away from the relegation zone.

At 34 years of age now, it is unlikely that Kalou playing for West Ham will fade his popularity with the Chelsea fans.

The best years of his career was at Stamford Bridge and he played a big role in the Blues' success during his time at the club.

The Ivorian spent six years at Stamford Bridge between 2006 and 2012, scoring 60 goals in 254 appearances and wrote his name in the club's history books.

He won the 2010 Premier League title under Carlo Ancelotti and also lifted as many FA Cups.

But his biggest achievement at Stamford Bridge has to be the Champions League triumph in 2012 in which he played 84 minutes before seeing compatriot Didier Drogba seal a penalty shoot-out win at the Allianz Arena.

Kalou left Chelsea for Lille that summer as Eden Hazard moved in the opposite direction, but he found himself in the Bundesliga with Hertha just two years later.

He has scored 51 times in 167 games for the German side over the years.

However, Kalou has struggled for gametime this season and has managed to get just 281 minutes of football.

New Hertha boss Klinsmann, who replaced Ante Covic in November, has already signaled the end of Kalou’s Hertha career by making him train away from the senior squad.

The 34-year-old has become furious with the manager as he claims that he is not being shown any respect despite his years of service at the club.
