Hansi Flick impressed by loanee Alvaro Odriozola in just two days

Alvaro Odriozola is giving the Bayern boss food for thought for his Bayern Munich line-up, having an impressive beginning to his loan spell.

The full-back joined Bundesliga champions this week on loan until the end of the season due to less game time under Zinedine Zidane.

Hansi Flick will now also have Joshua Kimmich available for their upcoming games after the German returned from a ban.

Odriozola, however, appears to be under the radar to make his debut despite having had relatively few training sessions with his new team-mates.

Flick said on Friday,” I’ll decide at short notice. We have another option now, which makes us more flexible.”

Flick also praised Kimmich and called him a role model. He spoke about his attitude being perfect in each and every training session and was proud of his attitude of always wanting to learn something new.

Flick also commented on Lucas Hernandez’s injury recovery that he is making “good progress” and could join the race to make the matchday squad.

Bayern Munich are at the moment four points behind the league leaders RB Leipzig, one ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach and just two above  Borussia Dortmund, who are firing with their newly signed Erling Braut Haaland.

When asked about what intrigued him into buying Odriozola, Flick said,” He’s an attack-minded defender, he can introduce speed, he’s very agile, his crosses are good too.”

With Dortmund strengthening their squad this summer with the signing of Haaland, who already scored a hat-trick in the 5-3 win over Augsburg, Bayern will be looking to play safe and not drop any points.

Emre Can has also been linked with the club. When Flick was asked about his thoughts he said,” I’ve known Emre Can for a long time. He is a top professional with an excellent career. He has the quality to play for every Bundesliga club. He’d be good for every team.”
