Newcastle United want Spanish striker Paco Alcacer on loan

Premier League side Newcastle United are plotting a sensational loan deal for Spanish international forward Paco Alcacer.

However, they have to beat the player's former club Valencia if they have to sign the 26-year-old Spaniard.

Steve Bruce's side are is in talks with German club Borussia Dortmund for the forward, who can move on loan as he wants to play on a regular basis to boost his chances of making the Spain squad for the upcoming Euro 2020.

The North East club hope that they can persuade the former Barcelona striker to join with the offer of plenty of game time in the Premier League.

Their club-record signing Joelinton has so far failed to justify his massive transfer fee as the Magpies continue to struggle due to lack of a lethal goalscorer up front.

And, someone like Alcacer, who is a proven goalscorer in both Spain and Germany, could ease their situation.

Alcacer boasts a pretty impressive return at Borussia Dortmund and is a bit unlucky that he is still not a regular in the starting XI.

He has found the back of the net 26 times in just 47 appearances and a large part of his gametime has been from the bench.

This season, the Spaniard has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 15 appearances, which is pretty impressive considering he has played just 820 minutes of football.

With the arrival of Erling Haaland at Signal Iduna Park, who has scored five goals in his first two games, Alcacer's struggle for playing time will only intensify.

Newcastle United believe that they can sweeten the deal with the prospect of a possible permanent transfer at £25million in the summer.

Alcacer, 26, who was with Barcelona before joining Dortmund, is keen for a fresh start after becoming disillusioned with the Bundesliga.

He was an unused sub as the German club won on Friday and the arrival of Norway star Erling Haaland has pushed him closer to the exit door.

He is also wanted back home by his old club Valencia, where he spent five years. Rodrigo Moreno could be on his way out of the club and Alcacer is wanted as a replacement of the 28-year-old.

Newcastle have already started using the foreign loan market well to bring in winger Valentino Lazaro and midfielder Nabil Bentaleb from Inter and Schalke respectively.
