Karim Benzema Stats vs Chelsea: Real Madrid vs Chelsea 2nd Leg Preview

Karim Benzema vs Chelsea

The Champions League night is set with an excruciating fixture between Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The stakes are high with Chelsea looking to pull off a miracle at Santiago Bernabeu as they find themselves two goals down against the 13-times Champions League winner Real Madrid.

Chelsea, who never lost to Real Madrid in Europe saw themselves being exposed in the first leg of the Champions League as they fell to a 3-1 defeat courtesy of a Karim Benzema’s hattrick, who has never looked back ever since he hit his stride.

It’s astounding to see how Benzema has evolved into a different player when Real Madrid lost their few critical players in past years, and one of them was European king Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid was all about Ronaldo, and he was the one who made a difference at the club and achieved unprecedented glories, but when he left, there were doubts about who will be Los Blancos’ new amulet.

All the fingers were pointed towards Karim Benzema, and the Frenchman rose through the ranks defying the odds. And it’s sporadic when the team’s best player leaves the club, and the team hits rock bottom.

But Benzema did not let that happen as he kept Real Madrid’s status high in Europe. And currently, the Real Madrid stalwart is having the best time with the club at the age of 34. Ever since Ronaldo has left, Benzema has netted 124 times.

And this season, he is already in contention for the Ballon d’Or after his heroic performance against Chelsea.

With his hattrick in the first leg vs Chelsea, Benzema has already made Real Madrid favorites of reaching consecutive semi-finals of the Champions League, and his record against the Blues speaks volumes in just three matches. He has scored four goals despite playing in La Liga.

Although he notched up back-to-back hattricks in Champions League, making him the fourth player to achieve the feat, after his former teammate, Lionel Messi, and Luiz Adriano.

And it would be great to see his hard work pay off by winning the coveted Ballon d’Or as he already has 37 goals in 36 games this season to his name.
