Arsenal want this 27 year old French international to bolster their defence

Premier League giants Arsenal are said to be lining up a £6million move for PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa as they look to bolster their leaky defence.

The Gunners were looking to sign the 27-year-old French international as a free agent in the summer when his contract with the French champions expires but they have seemingly fast forwarded their plans to this window as they are hit by injuries badly at the left-back position.

Both Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac are out with injuries at the moment and the duo both have a poor record with injuries. Tierney, a £25m summer signing from Scottish champions Celtic, managed just nine games for Arsenal before being ruled out for at least three months by a persistent shoulder problem.

Meanwhile, Kolasinac is now struggling with a thigh strain after recently returning from an ankle injury. Also, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international is linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium as he is not the first choice which means Arsenal anyway would have to look at a new left-back.

Kurzawa, who cost PSG £20m when they brought him in from Monaco in 2015, was originally recommended to Arsenal by former manager Unai Emery and the Gunners still maintain their interest in the Frenchman despite parting ways with the former PSG boss.

Mikel Arteta is also believed to be an admirer of the 27-year-old and believes that he can be a decent cover for Tierney and can even compete with the young Scotsman for place in the starting XI.

The Arsenal boss admitted that he is looking for players in January, especially defenders. He said: “We have a lot of issues at the back and the fact that Calum Chambers has suffered a big injury has modified our plans.

“I believe we can compete for what we want with the current squad, but if this scenario changes, I’m expecting that we will go into the transfer market and try to solve this issue.

“It has to be the right player in the right financial context that we can attract.

"That’s not easy in this market but I do have a transfer wish list, just in case.”

Kurzawa, capped 13 times for the French national team, has three Ligue 1 titles in his resume. And, he also rejected a move to Inter as he is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

West Ham United also have an interest in the player but Arsenal are leading the chase as of now.
