Manchester City's Phil Foden names his four greatest Premier League midfielders of all time

Foden is a five-time Premier League champion.

Phil Foden has ranked his four greatest Premier League midfielders of all time. The player named by him are modern day legends such as  N’Golo Kante, Fabregas, Yaya Toure and David Silva as the best midfielders in the English top-flight league. According to him that he had watched play as majority of those players  are either still going strong or have just recently hung up their boots.

Two of the players were on the  same team that is both Silva and Toure. They are Manchester City's two of the greatest players who ever won numerous championships for them. But Foden never really got the opportunity to share the same dressing room and play alongside them. Both of the midfield players had left the team by the time he was considered good enough for Pep, promoted to the senior squad and managed to break through.

The legendary Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfield visionary maestro Fabregas had his best years with Arsenal. He also had a great run with both his return with the  Gunners and Chelsea before spending his final year in a league with lower competition in Italy.

On the other hand Kante, who joined Chelsea after leaving Leicester City, has established himself as one of the league’s top midfield players  and recently departed Chelsea for the middle east.

Without a doubt, one of the best English players in recent time, someone who would not look out of place  in any all time XI Premier League has to offer right now is Phil Foden. The Manchester City player is a favourite to win PFA Player of the Year because he may have had his best season to date.

It’s hardly shocking that the Englishman has extraordinary ball understanding given his level of skill on the pitch. There are questions regarding their availability as there is risk of him being burnt out even before he manages to reach his prime and City know that. Thus they are carefully managing his game time as he still has a lot of room to grow.

Now that we are at the business end of the season, it becomes all the more crucial to manage and rotate the squad. In order to deal with the influx of fixtures especially when you are competing for multiple honours Foden’s availability is reportedly still unknown. According to the Manchester Evening News, when Guardiola addresses the media again, there will be much anticipation for updates on Haaland and Foden’s fitness.

In order to maintain their slim lead at the top of the league, Mikel Arteta’s squad, Arsenal, will be hoping that Man City end up dropping points. And their star players end up having an off day as recently City have been depending heavily on Foden and Haaland. Their absence or infirmity might hurt the Cityzens but would benefit Foden's former boss Arteta  .
