Manchester United vs Roma: Head to Head Record | H2H Stats | Previous Results | History

Two old European adversaries meet again after 13 years as Manchester United lock horns with Roma in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday.

Both sides are desperate for silverware but do you have any idea about the odds when the teams met in the past? Let's have a look at the head-to-head record between the two rival outfits.

1) AS Roma 2-1 Manchester United (4 April 2007)

This was the first meeting between both sides, and it was undoubtedly one of the most memorable ones, but for not the best reasons.

The stage was set at the Stadio Olimpico for the UCL quarter-finals, and goals from Rodrigo Taddei and Mirko Vucinic ensured a victory for the Italian club in the first leg. The only positive from the game for Manchester United was an away goal scored by Wayne Rooney.

The meeting witnessed violent fans, and a lot of heat and disarray was discerned on the night.

2) Manchester United 7-1 AS Roma (10 April 2007)

Something special was awaiting at Old Trafford for the second-leg. With Roma traveling to the Theatre of Dreams, they would've never imagined what was about to hit them that night.

The game commenced with Michael Carrick scoring in the 11th minute. Soon after, Alan Smith and Rooney followed with quick-fire goals, and Man United were three goals ahead of the Serie A side.

The stage was set for Cristiano Ronaldo who scored his first Champions League goal and completed his brace shortly before and after the second-half whistle. Carrick also found the net again and Manchester United were running riot just after an hour of action.

Roma did manage to tick the scoreboard on the night as Daniele De Rossi scored, with Patrice Evra scoring the seventh and final goal of the game. A night of dismay ended with Manchester United registering one of their biggest triumphs in the Champions League.

3) Manchester United 1-0 Roma (2 October 2007)

AS Roma were paired with Manchester United again in the very next season's UCL group stage, with Sporting CP and Dynamo Kyiv being the other sides.

Roma were very prudent this time, and they kept their calm until the end, but a Wayne Rooney goal was enough for Manchester United on the night.

4) AS Roma 1-1 Manchester United  (12 December 2007)

Roma managed to keep their opponents in control at home. This game was not like one that was anticipated, and the game ended with a point each to both teams.

However, United's only scorer on the night was Gerard Pique, who was just 20, while the hosts saw Mancini scoring for them.

5) AS Roma 0-2 Manchester United (1 April 2008)

There was certainly something not correct about the draws as the two were drawn again to play each other in the 2007/08 Champions League season.

AS Roma had always averted a loss at home against Manchester United, but the fact that the Manchester side was in their best form that season, Stadio Olimpico's piousness was breached too.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a thumping header which is still one of his best goals in the champions league, with Wayne Rooney scoring another.

6) Manchester United 1-0 AS Roma (9 April 2008)

AS Roma had to fight for more this time as they were trailing by two goals. The visitors had a chance to breakthrough a comeback, but De Rossi's poor spot-kick was enough for United to not let another opening fall for their foes.

But that became more evident as Manchester United managed to make the most of their chances again as Carlos Tevez scored the winner in the 70th minute, with AS Roma crashing out of the UCL, while Manchester United went on to be crowned the Champions League winners.

This time it may not be the Champions League, but the Europa League is as important and it will be interesting to see which side makes the most of their chances.

Can Roma finally come out as the winner of the tie against the Red Devils, or will United prevail with their dominance?
